What is the difference between the 9240 CJ4LA and 9240 CJ4 IR?.
The 9240 CJ4 LA is a scanner with global coverage and the 9240 CJ4-IR does not include vehicle makes that are not distributed in NorthAmerica. All other features and update procedures are the same. There is only one zip file to update the 9240 CJ4-LA and 9240 CJ4-IR in our "downloads" web section,

How is the CJ4 updated?.
The CJ4 (LA or IR) which support the SD card can be updated erasing the contents of the SD card, copy the contents of the zip file into the SD card, turn-on the CJ4 with the module and it will self update automatically in about 5 minutes.
If the CJ4 does not have the SD card, connect it to a PC using the USB port, launch the "Updater" application from the PKG folder. The CJ4 will be updated in about five minutes.
